Potentially Inane Golden Globe Predictions, films only (how I did)

What will the Golden Globes tell us tomorrow? I'm a general fan of the FPA even if they have a tendency to be exasperating at times, sometimes it's fun to watch them do some especially left field things with their nominations - like through Emily Blunt a nomination for The Devil Wears Prada or give a citation to Annette Bening in Running With Scissors or even give a win to Nicole Kidman in To Die For. Predicting them is doubly hard, because they're so bipolar....but here goes.

PICTURE, COMEDY
Barney’s Version
Greenberg
Love & Other Drugs
The Kids Are All Right
Made in Dagenham

Hmm, so Burlesque, Alice in Wonderland, The Tourist and RED (gross) make it in...weird...

PICTURE, DRAMA
127 Hours
Black Swan
Inception
The King’s Speech
The Social Network

So The Fighter over 127 Hours...

DIRECTOR
Aronofsky / Black Swan
Fincher / The Social Network
Hooper /  The King's Speech
Nolan / Inception
Scorsese / Shutter Island

I didn't see Russell coming on that strong for The Fighter, looks like that could be one to watch - what with all these nominations, but then this is the Globes...

LEAD ACTRESS, COMEDY
Bening / The Kids Are All Right
Cher / Burlesque
Hathaway / Love & Other Drugs
Hawkins / Made in Dagenham
Moore/ The Kids Are All Right

So Emma Stone in Easy A and Angelina Jolie in The Tourist make it in, honestly I sort of like these nominations...save for Hathaway, but that was inevitable.

LEAD ACTOR, COMEDY
Carey / I Love You Philip Morris
Giamti / Barney’s Version
Gyllenhaal / Love & Other Drugs
Stiller / Greenberg
Reilly / Cyrus

Everyone kept predicting Depp, I said they were crazy and here he turns up for The Tourist and Alice in Wonderland, I liked the latter but he was TERRIBLE in it, he joins Kevin Spacey in Casino Jack.

LEAD ACTRESS, DRAMA
Kidman / Rabbit Hole
Lawrence / Winter’s Bone
Manville / Another Year
Mulligan / Never Let Me Go
Portman / Black Swan

Damn, that NBR win made me actually think Manville had a shot, but who saw Halle Berry coming for Frankie & Alice, and congrats I suppsoe are in order to Michelle Williams in Blue Valentine.

LEAD ACTOR, DRAMA
DiCaprio / Shutter Island
Duvall / Get Low
Eisenberg / The Social Network
Firth / The King’s Speech
Franco / 127 Hours

So Wahlberg (The Fighter) and  Gosling (Blue Valentine) make it in, I was about to leave of DiCaprio...but I don't know, I just figured they'd let him in. Very surprised about the lack of Duvall...

SUPPORTING ACTOR
Bale / The Fighter
Garfield / The Social Network
Murray / Get Low
Ruffalo / The Kids Are All Right
Rush / The King’s Speech

Douglas makes it in for Wall Street 2 and Renner for The Town. Seriously, the Ruffalo snub is still making me smart.

SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Bonham Carter / The King’s Speech
Leo / The Fighter
Scott Thomas / Nowhere Boy
Weaver / Animal Kingdom
Wiest / Rabbit Hole

Kunis (Black Swan) and Adams (The Fighter) make it in, I guess Nowhere Boy is officially forgotten.

SCREENPLAY
Black Swan
Inception
The Kids Are All Right
The King’s Speech
The Social Network

Was not anticipating the love for 27 Hours, and of course they confuse Nolan's admittedly good concept for awards' worthy writing, but whatever. I was really hoping for Rabbit Hole to sneak...but alas, no.

SCORE
Black Swan
Inception
The King’s Speech
Never Let Me Go
The Social Network

I'm kind of shocked Portman's very obvious score (which I liked, nonetheless) was snubbed for Never Let Me Go. I can't remember why I thought that Rahman wouldn't make it for 127 Hours and I'm kind of shocked by the Alice in Wonderland love, never been Elfman's biggest fan.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Biutiful
Incendies
Life Above All
Of Gods & Men
White Material

other nominees:The Concert, The Edge, I Am Love, In a Better World

ANIMATED
Despicable Me
How to Train Your Dragon
The Illusionist
Tangled
Toy Story III

ORIGINAL SONG
“If I Rise” / 127 Hours
“You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me” / Burlesque
“Country Strong” / Country Strong
“I See the Light” / Tangled
“We Belong Together” / Toy Story III

Missed out, “Bound to You” from Burlesque, “Coming Home” from Country Strong and “There's A Place For Us” from The Chronicles of Narnia. I should have gone with my gut and predicted “Bound to You” - considering that I think it's the strongest song of the Burslesque lot.
