Facebook Dislike Button

I believe at least there are few users wanted to have a Facebook Dislike button over their Facebook activity. Today, there has been Facebook Dislike button spreads over the internet like a wildfire, claiming as the opposite function of the Facebook Like button.

Be very careful when you have encountered this because it's a scam. According to blog of Anti-virus site Sophos,
Like the "Preventing Spam / Verify my account" scam which went before it, the scammers have managed to waltz past Facebook's security to replace the standard "Share" option with a link labelled "Enable Dislike Button".
The fact that the "Enable Dislike Button" link does not appear in the main part of the message, but lower down alongside "Link" and "Comment", is likely to fool some users into believing that it is genuine.

Facebook shutting down?

Did you received a message from your friend that Facebook is shutting down? Initial reaction would be of course, download tons of pictures and videos uploaded to your Facbook account and probably permanently delete your account.

That's absurd. Here's an excerpt of the news posted at Weekly World News.
PALO ALTO, CA –Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook will be shut down in March. Managing the site has become too stressful.
“Facebook has gotten out of control,” said Zuckerberg in a press conference outside his Palo Alto office, “and the stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness.”
Zuckerberg went on to explain that starting March 15th, users will no longer be able to access their Facebook accounts.
“After March 15th the whole website shuts down,” said Avrat Humarthi, Vice President of Technical Affairs at Facebook. “So if you ever want to see your pictures again, I recommend you take them off the internet. You won’t be able to get them back once Facebook goes out of business.”
It may sound too good to be true, ah? Well, don't carried away immediately because it's obviously an Internet hoax. There have been so many Internet hoax spreads like a wild fire last year, just like the news that  Justin Bieber, A Disguised 51 Year Old Pedophile.

The stats above presents the typical traffic of this blog.

Keywords & Traffic Source

The Facbook, Fcebook, Faceboook and Faceboo keywords were actually the reason this started to gain a regular traffic of not less than 300 hits.

Since I have posted about celebrities, artists like Justin Bieber, Jennifer Grey and Alanis Morissette brought traffic here.

I think everyday Justin Bieber has been attacked by hoax and some maliciously created rumors like Justin Bieber imprenated his mother, Justin Bieber dead, Justin Bieber kissing a boy and few to mention.

Jennifer Grey searches increased this blog's traffic into not less than 1000 hits. That was then Dancing with the Stars season 10 about to end. If you would Google for Jennifer Grey, you will see an images and one of those  will lead to this blogsite.

Aside from the keywords mentioned above, most of the time I blogged about trending topics of the day which sometimes give an instant traffic of not less than 10 hits, at least. If I get lucky with the trending topic I chose, I'll be able to have a thousand hits and sometime lasts for about two to three days.

To give an example, check the stats above, as you can see on Saturday, this blog just have 336 First Time visitors. On Sunday, I got lucky I have posted about Did Teena Marie Die, in which I instantly gained a traffic. The following day, Monday, the hits grew even more until it peaked to Tuesday in which I hit 1,977 first time visitors. Wow, that was awesome. It was also my highest earning in Google Adsense amounting $16.94.

Achievements

First is traffic and second of course Adsense earnings. It was August of this year when I got my first Adsense payout, which you can check to my post Making Money Online can be frustrating. It really takes patience and dedication to taste money online.

New Blog.  Just last month, I bought a new webhosting plan. Since it includes a new domain name, I registered an official address of sharedcorner.com and named the site Shared Corner 2.0.

Earnings.

For this year, the total earnings roughly about $836.35 (that includes this December which have already reached $100 minimum threshold ). It's just a fraction of what other bloggers are earning, but I'm already happy with that of course.

Google Trends Screenshots

Check out the screenshots I took when my blogposts got featured from Google Trends. There were actually many times I got featured just for a few minutes after publishing but being featured is not an assurance of huge traffic.

Click the images to enlarge.

Plans.

As for plans about this blog, I actually decided to stop updating this and focus on my new blog but I held up since Shared Corner 2.0 is still in its inception.

So, there goes my Year-end post.

To my fellow bloggers, thank you for exchanging links with me, commenting and dropping by.

Of course, I wouldn't be more inspired if I didn't make money out of this blogging, so I huge thanks to first time visitors who have clicked ads. I hope you have found what you were looking for the days when you are in the middle of difficulties searching for answer.

Facebook apologized for its DNS Error

Perhaps the 500 million users overloaded the hardware facilities which resulted to Facebook DNS Error today. Facebook has never experience the similar error in the past four years of its existence as posted from their Notes wall.

This is the worst outage we’ve had in over four years, and we wanted to first of all apologize for it.

Facebook went to outage for about two and half hours on Thursday. According to Robert Johnson of Facebook, The key flaw that caused this outage to be so severe was an unfortunate handling of an error condition. An automated system for verifying configuration values ended up causing much more damage than it fixed.

To address the problem, the site temporarily turned off by Facebook to stop all transactions to the database in which "Facebook DNS Error" showed to the Facebook.

The way to stop the feedback cycle was quite painful - we had to stop all traffic to this database cluster, which meant turning off the site. Once the databases had recovered and the root cause had been fixed, we slowly allowed more people back onto the site.

---

What is DNS? DNS or Domain name system is a naming system designed to simplify and designate a human-friendly name of the address designated to a certain web address. For instance, Facebook.com here in my area is accessible at http://69.63.189.16/, instead of accessing it through that address or remembering that block of numbers each time I visit the site, I would simply type Facebook.com to my browser.

When does DNS Error happens? DNS error happens when for example Facebook which is supposedly accessible to a given address was made or accidentally made inaccessible. A simpler example is, I turned off my computer or it's busted which is supposedly accessible to a certain ip address mapped onto it.

500M Facebook users, ready to answer your Facebook Questions

The giant social networking site Facebook is cooking the latest feature named Facebook Questions (Still in Beta).

500M Facebook users, ready to answer your Questions. Yes that's right! 500M Facebook users might be answering your question. I could compare this Twitter and Plurk but the difference is, your question is publicly seen by the said number of users. Unlike in two popular micro-blogging site, your status or question only available to your followers.

Well, it's not really the two micro-blogging sites Facebook's trying to compete but rather Yahoo! answers.

Here's a bit of information from Facbook's Blog.

Ask Anything, Get Quality Answers

Facebook Questions helps you tap into the collective knowledge of the more than 500 million people on Facebook. For example, if you're vacationing in Costa Rica and want to know the best places to surf, you can use Facebook Questions to get answers from nearby surfing enthusiasts. Because questions will also appear to your friends and their friends, you'll receive answers that are more personalized to you.

To ask a question to the community, just click the "Ask Question" button at the top of the homepage. You can also ask questions about your friends from their profiles, similarly to how you would post on their Walls.
