Certainly not feeling blue! Cher Lloyd sports double denim at G.A.Y. as she celebrates landing No. 1 with debut solo single

By Jody Thompson

Sweet dreams: Cher Lloyd celebrated landing her first No. 1 single with debut Swagger Jagger last night at London's G.A.Y. nightclub

She's had her fair share of haters since she first appeared on last year's X Factor - but Cher Lloyd got the last laugh when she went straight to Number One tonight with her debut solo single.

The 18-year-old's Swagger Jagger knocked She Makes Me Wanna by fellow former X Factor contestants JLS from the top of the charts and into second place.

Cher celebrated earlier with a set at London's legendary club G.A.Y. last night, where she had worn skintight dark indigo blue jeans and a sleeveless royal blue blue denim shirt which she'd tied at her waist.

Teen star: Cher, who only turned 18 last week, celebrated early with a set at the club at Heaven

She was also sporting her now trademark glossy half-shaved hairstyle with her flowing locks to one side, and had accessorised her bright pink microphone with pink make-up and nails.

After the set, club bosses treated her to a huge birthday cake with a giant Number One and her name and photo on it.

The star was then clearly blown away this evening when dozens of fans queued outside the Radio 1 studios in London where she was a guest as Reggie Yates announced she'd gone to Number One on tonight's Official Chart Show.

Overwhelmed: The youngster appeared to have tears of joy in her eyes as she chatted to Official Chart Show host Reggie Yates

Enjoying her moment: Cher spent time talking to fans and singing autographs

Despite the wind and rain, they all waited patiently for a chance to meet their idol.

Wearing a tan coloured skirt with white T-shirt and black tights and shoes. Cher seemed genuinely overwhelmed and appeared to have tears in her eyes as she chatted to Reggie.

The star said this evening: 'Having a number One was the best thing I could have asked for, I am so happy! I'm the happiest girl alive! Thank you for supporting me, and buying the single! This is the best thing that's ever happened to me!'

Prayers answered: Cher seemed thrilled to bits with her good news

Starting them young: Cher took time to greet some of her youngest fans too

She added: 'It's the one thing I've always wanted to achieve as an artist and now it's come true. It's the best feeling in the world! Thank you to everyone who bought the single and to all my fans who believed in me.'

Co-written and produced by The Runners, who have previously worked with Rihanna, Cher came up with Swagger Jagger earlier this year, on her first post-X Factor trip to Los Angeles - and the hook-laden track takes a cheeky sideswipe at a 'hater' who should 'just let it go'.

Cher, who only turned 18 last week, had previously said that if she achieved her dream of landing on top of the charts, she would celebrate with a glass of champagne as she was now allowed to drink.

Have a go: The X Factor contestant has not been afraid to confront her haters

Cool in cotton: The 18-year-old was rocking a double denim look of skintight black jeans and a blue sleeved shirt tied at the waist last night

Elsewhere, there was little other change at the top of the chart, with boyband The Wanted slipping to third with Glad You Came, singer Ed Sheeran's The A Team unchanged in fourth, and Louder by DJ Fresh dropping two places to No 5.

Amy Winehouse, who died last month aged 27, continued to dominate the albums chart.

Back To Black remained in top spot while her debut album Frank moved up to third.
Adele stayed at No 2 and No 4 with 21 and debut 19, with singer Beyoncé continuing the numerical titled albums in fifth place with 4.

Meanwhile, Cher's as-yet-untitled debut album, which will feature Busta Rhymes, Mike Posner and new British rapper Dot Rotten, comes out in November.

Swagger to the top: Cher Lloyd set to knock JLS from number one spot with debut single

By J J Anisiobi

Maximum swagger: Cher Lloyd arrives at the signing of her new single, Swagger Jagger, at Westfield in London this week

X Factor finalist Cher Lloyd is favourite to take the number one spot in tomorrow's chart with her debut single, Swagger Jagger.

The 18-year-old singer and rapper is odds on to knock former X Factor compatriots JLS off the top spot after midweek results revealed she was top of the iTunes chart.

Even if her first release - which samples the melody from Folk Country song Oh My Darling, Clementine - makes it to number one, Cher says she has no intention of celebrating with a wild night on the town.

Speaking to the Sun newspaper, Cher said: 'I'll probably celebrate by having a night in with a Chinese and a glass of bubbly.'

Cher, who turned 18 last week, added that she may also buy herself a pair of Christian Louboutin's as worn by Victoria Beckham.

Despite the predicted success of her first single and plans to move to London later this year, Cher is keeping grounded with the help of her family.

She told the Sun: 'I'm still rough and ready. I've got a new job but that doesn't make me any different. I still have my mum, dad, brother and sisters.'

Turn my swag on: Cher admitted that she sometimes cries when dealing with negative comments

Although the Malvern teenager has worked with and met some of the biggest names in music including Kanye West, Wil.i.am and Jay-Z, it is thanks to her dad, Darren, that she is able to stay normal.

Her parents, who still live in the same council house with a leaky conservatory, poke fun at her stage outfits with her dad often telling her she 'looked awful.'

It is Darren that she bought a brand new Range Rover for as a thank you for his support and to replace the 'rubbish' that he used to drive.

Go shorty, it's your birthday: Cher is greeted by a fan with a birthday balloon last month outside Sony's London headquarters

Swagger Jagger has received mixed reviews but Cher thinks the negative opinions are more to do with people not liking her rather than the song.

No stranger to heckling, she was often picked on in school because of her Romany-gypsy roots and the singer was called names such as 'pikey' and 'gyppo'.

However tough she may appear, the heavily tattooed star admits that sometimes when things get too much for her she will hideaway and cry.

She added to the newspaper: 'I tuck myself away and I have a cry and let it out.'

Love is in the air: Cher steps out with her new boyfriend, Craig Monk, at a Yorkshire service station last week

If she needs a shoulder to cry on though, Simon Cowell is one of the music world heavyweights who she can turn to for advice.

She said of the X Factor supremo: 'I'm comfortable around him and we just chat like normal people. We text each other now and again. He asks me how I am and that's really nice.'

Things are looking good for the pint sized singer as she also admitted that she is in love with new boyfriend Craig Monk.

Craig, a trainee-hairdresser, met Cher when attaching her hair extensions in London's Mayfair.

Cher told the newspaper: 'It is serious. I'm in love. I've never spoken about Craig before but I think he's the bee's knees.'

Cher Lloyd rocks the Eighties with her funky outfit as she stops for a caffeine fix

By Daily Mail Reporter

Eighties chic: Cher Lloyd rocks a cropped T-shirt and big swept hair as she stopped at a service station

She was born three years after the decade ended but appears to embracing the fashion with gusto.

Cher Lloyd looked every inch the Eighties chick as she stopped at a service station for a frozen coffee in her crop top.

Her hair was big and swept to one side as she flashed her midriff and sipped on her drink as she walked across the forecourt.

Cher, who was born in 1993, teamed the outfit with studded baseball boots and cut-off black denim shorts.

She was with some of her crew as she headed to the Leeds Party in the Park concert where she was performing.

And as her fame grows, so does her nonchalance towards the attention as she casually breezed past the cameras without a care in the world.

Caffeine fix: Cher sipped on her frozen coffee as she made her way across the forecourt

Cher, 18, releases her debut single entitled 'Swagger Jagger' today but she has been heavily promoting it at clubs and concerts across the country since its first airplay on June 20.

Today she will be at the Westfield Shopping Centre, in London's Shepherd's Bushto sign copies of the single, which will feature on her debut album due for release this winter.

From 4pm, she will be meeting and greeting fans at HMV which will dish out a limited number of wristbands to grant lucky fans access to the signing.

Excited: Cher chatted away to one of her crew as they headed to Leeds for Party in the Park

According to reports, an hour before the signing the digital screen on Eat Street leading up to the centre will be shut down for what is described on the singer's website as a '10 minute Cher Lloyd takeover'.

Cher has also recorded a duet with Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am, who has decided to withhold the record for now.

But she said she wasn't disappointed and told the Daily Star: 'I'm not going to stress about it. I don't think people should focus on that as I'm really happy with the record.'

'I'm not going to stop until I have a Bentley like Simon Cowell's!' Cher Lloyd reveals plans to become a 'big businesswoman'

By Sarah Bull

Big plans: Cher Lloyd says she wants to be as big as Simon Cowell

Cher Lloyd has revealed she isn't going to stop in the music industry until she is rich enough to buy a Bentley like the one Simon Cowell owns.

The 18-year-old singer, whose debut single Swagger Jagger is released tomorrow, said she isn't going to let any criticism hold her back in her mission to make it as the next big thing in music.

She said: 'I just ignore anyone that doesn’t like my music. I’m not stopping until I have a Bentley like Simon has got.'

Nice ride: The 18-year-old admitted she's not going to stop until she has a Bentley the same as the one owned by Simon Cowell

Cher also revealed Simon has always encouraged her to stick to her own unique style when it comes to her attitude and her music.

She added to the Sunday Mirror: 'He told me not to change and not let people tell me what to do. He said listen to people that know best but always do what your gut says is right. He’s a good man.

‘I’d love to be like Simon. I really look up to him and everything he has achieved. I want to be a big businesswoman.

'One day I’d like my own record label to give other artists the chance to get their music out there.’

In the meantime, Cher is hoping Swagger Jagger and her debut album, out in November, prove successful.

And the former X Factor star said despite negative criticism surrounding the catchy track, she maintains it is a good song.

She said: 'Swagger Jagger stood out from the beginning as the first single. But there are other tracks on the album with different sounds. I’d love my album to do well.

'And I’d love to do a tour as well at some point so I can perform the songs live. I’m going to be doing lots of gigs this year no matter what.'

Since appearing on The X Factor, Cher has made a name for herself as one of the most famous former contestants, but says she doesn't think of herself as a celebrity.

Colourful: Cher performed her debut single Swagger Jagger at T4 On The Beach earlier this month

She said: 'I don’t really see myself as being famous. I’m just well-known. I’m coping well with it all, I think. My whole life has changed, but I’m learning something new every day.

'I’m no big drama - I just get on with it and don’t care. I don’t expect too much and in return don’t expect too much from me.'

Cher class! X Factor star Ms Lloyd looks elegant all in black as she scrubs up beautifully for her 18th birthday

By Jody Thompson

She's arrived! Tiny Cher Lloyd looked elegant in a black minidress suit as she arrived at a studio in south London today on her 18th birthday

Just last week, she hit out at people who criticised her looks, and accused them of being insecure bullies - but Cher Lloyd appears to have found the best way to make her haters eat their words.

The former X Factor contestant who came fourth on last year's show looked extraordinarily elegant and chic in an all-black ensemble as she arrived at a recording studio in London today as she celebrated her 18th birthday.

The Swagger Jagger singer literally appeared to have grown up overnight, wearing eye-wateringly high Louboutin stilettos with a tailored black jacket over a black minidress and gold necklace.

Looking good: The X Factor star was wearing a tailored jacket over a black dress and gold necklace

She'd accessorised with black tights, a pale pink bag - and a massive happy big smile.

The undeniably striking brunette has still got her edgy half shaved haircut too, but the rest looked shiny and healthy, hanging in pretty curls.

She was clearly having a fabulous day of it too, writing on her official Twitter account: 'Thank you all so much for the birthday messages! Big love! Xxxxxx'

Cher had arrived at the south London studio to celebrate her milestone birthday with her fans.

Birthday suit: The star was celebrating her 18th birthday with a live webchat and streaming of excerpts of her new album for her fans

She was taking part in a live online stream of excerpts of her new album together with a live interview.

Despite dividing opinion while on - and after - the X Factor, she's got plenty of supporters two, with nearly half a million Twitter followers.

And even though the name-calling towards her has been harsh for someone who was until today only a child, she fiercely addressed them in her debut single Swagger Jagger, singing: 'Hi hater/ Kiss kiss/ See you later.'

Talking in last week' issue of Bliss magazine, the star seemed philosophical about the brickbats she got.

She mused: 'Some people find it hard to come to terms with the fact that everyone is different.

'I think it all boils down to their own insecurities - if you’re unhappy with yourself, you’re going to pick on someone else, and that’s what they’re doing. I feel sorry for them.'

Speaking of her upcoming track, she said: 'There are certain lines in the song that basically explain that, no matter what I do, people won’t stop writing about me and talking about me all the time.

'I’m still in people’s minds, whether they like me or they hate me.'

She also credited her fans with giving her strength, adding: 'It’s really good. I call them my brats because they’re feisty.

'I don’t even have to open my mouth - they do it for me. I couldn’t do it without them.'

Cher's debut single Swagger Jagger is out on 31 July, with her debut album following in November.

Too cool for school: Cher Lloyd says her 'unhappy' critics just have 'insecurities' - and reveals her bizarre crush on Mr Bean

By Nadia Mendoza

Tattooed tearaway: She's not even 18, but feisty Cher Lloyd has a mature attitude

Most teenagers would crumble at the barrage of backlash Cher Lloyd has received.

But the little fighter has hushed her critics by saying they're just 'insecure'.

The Malvern pop princess says the only reason people are so quick to bully her is because they're 'unhappy' themselves.

But with Simon Cowell's support, nearly half a million Twitter supporters and a debut album on the way, she is the one having the last laugh.

Cher, soon to be 18, even addressed the issues in her first single Swagger Jagger, singing: 'Hi hater/ Kiss kiss/ See you later.'

Having catapulted into the spotlight by coming fourth on last year's X Factor, the petite star has matured beyond her years.

She said: 'Some people find it hard to come to terms with the fact that everyone is different.

Cher said she still speaks to Syco boss Cowell, saying: 'We have a really good relationship - it’s a truthful one.

'If there’s anything that he doesn’t feel will benefit me or lead me in the right direction, he’ll give me advice, which is the whole reason I went to the show - for his advice.

'To see whether I was good enough. He’s like an uncle. Uncle Si!

'Yeah, I do text him. I never put kisses though! Always a smiley face.'

Cheeky: Singer has a lot of attitude and has learned to ignore her 'haters'

Attitude: Cher sports multi-coloured hair as she performs at T4 On The Beach

She also credited her fans with giving her strength, adding: 'It’s really good. I call them my brats because they’re feisty.

'I don’t even have to open my mouth - they do it for me. I couldn’t do it without them.'

Cher also revealed her latest bizarre crush, telling Bliss: 'I’ve got a crush on Mr Bean.

'But not the actual actor (Rowan Atkinson) - the character. If I could have a boyfriend like that for a day, I think I’d be very, very happy, because he doesn’t speak does he?

'He’s just like "Teddy, teddy". I’ve got his name in one of my songs - it goes, "Please don’t say a thing, Mr Bean." Its great isn’t it?'
