2011 MTV Video Music Awards Nominees: Katy Perry Is Leading All

Katy Perry , Adele and Kanye West picked up the most nominations at MTV Video Music Awards 2011. At the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, Lady Gaga broke the record for most nominations in a single show with 13, and took home eight awards (seven for “Bad Romance” and one for “Telephone”).


Katy Perry is leading all in this year’s MTV Video Music Awards 2011. This time Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Britney Spears are little back. After a record-breaking 13 nominations last year, Lady Gaga received just three.
The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on August 28, 2011 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

MTV today announced the nominees for this year’s fourteen VMA categories. Katy Perry‘s rack of nods includes video of the year and female video for the hit “Firework,” pop video for “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” and collaboration for her Kanye West-assisted “E.T.” Adele and Kanye West picked up seven nominations apiece. Other multiple nominees included Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Bruno Mars.


During Wednesday’s night’s (July 20) on-air nominations event, Katy Perry shouted when she heard about her noms from MTV News’ Sway, “I have nine nominations!”.

Katy Perry Geeks Out for 'Last Friday Night' Video

Katy Perry did her best to look ridiculous for her star-packed new video for "Last Friday Night." The pop star goes from geek to glam '80s style complete with giant glasses, headgear and teased bangs while she parties with the likes of Kevin McHaleand Rebecca Black.

Katy (or rather Kathy Beth Terry as she's dubbed the character) wakes at up at the beginning of the video in a party-demolished room with a jock in her bed and a nerd duct taped to a chair as she recounts the events of "Last Friday Night." The plot is classic teen movie stuff as she plays a bookish girl just trying to study before she hits up the party next door. She looks out of place, but that's OK, because Rebecca Black is here to turn her into a hottie.

Katy has been working to get #KathyBethTerry trending on Twitter, and she even posted an extra video on her Vevo channel today introducing fans to the character. Check out the full "Last Friday Night" video below.

The California Gurl released a 30-second snippet for "Last Friday Night (TGIF)," the latest (and fifth!) single off herTeenage Dreams album. The full video won't be released until June 14, but the teaser for the music video gives fans a pretty good sense of what they're in for – and it's completely ridiculous. 

If you blink, you'll probably miss Rebecca Black, who makes the briefest of cameos during a party scene. But what you won't miss is a good half-minute of Perry looking her nerdiest as she shows us her alter-ego, 13-year-old Kathy Beth Terry, a braces-wearing, bio-nerd type who ends up vomiting into a shoe. Sounds like your typical Friday night, right?

She will not reveal how it will be done but Katy Perry is determined to try her hands in a magic trick during her California Dreams Tour in the U.S. next month.
The 'I Kissed a Girl' singer was reported to have revealed that she was so impressed by a magic act she saw on reality TV show 'America's Got Talent' that she asked how the trick was performed and has incorporated it into her live show.
"I saw these two magicians do it on America's Got Talent... and I thought, 'I'll have them teach me the trick," Contactmusic quoted her as telling a new Entertainment Weekly.
"I had to sign a nondisclosure agreement saying that I wouldn't give away the secrets behind the magic trick," she added.

Katy Perry rocked the Victoria's Secret fashion show with her outstanding performance of Firework. Perry already performed Firework during the American Music Awards from where Justin Bieber bagged four major awards.

Katy Perry's performance at Victoria's Secret fashion show was also a powerful one while fan admit that it was much better than her AMA 2010 performance.

Katy Perry's Sesame Street appearance outraged parents

Is it hot or cold to see Katy Perry's cleavage in a children TV show, particularly to the long time running Sesame Street?.

According to TMZ reports, parents quickly fired off angry letters, demanding it not to be broadcast and complained,  "They're gonna have to rename it cleavage avenue,"

Sesame Street representatives sided with the angry parents saying :

"'Sesame Street' has a long history of working with celebrities across all genres, including athletes, actors, musicians and artists. 'Sesame Street' has always been written on two levels, for the child and adult. We use parodies and celebrity segments to interest adults in the show because we know that a child learns best when co-viewing with a parent or care-giver. We also value our viewer’s opinions and particularly those of parents. In light of the feedback we’ve received on the Katy Perry music video which was released on You Tube only, we have decided we will not air the segment on the television broadcast of 'Sesame Street,' which is aimed at preschoolers. Katy Perry fans will still be able to view the video on You Tube." 

--As a fan of Sesame Street and also Katy Perry, I don't really find it offending after all.
