Denying She's Sent Nude Pics to Nicki Minaj's Ex, Amber Rose Thanks Wiz Khalifa for Support

Amber Rose has thanked Wiz Khalifa for his support amidst allegations she has sent naked pictures of hers to Nicki Minaj's ex-boyfriend. Taking to her Twitter page, the 28-year-old model says, "No matter what I go thru or how embarrassed I am I have a man that Loves me & has my back thru everything. @RealWizKhalifa thank u."

Recently, MediaTakeOut reported that Nicki was left upset when she found out that her then-boyfriend Safaree was keeping Rose's nude pictures on his cell phone. "At Nickis birthday in Vegas on [December 9th] weekend, Nicki caught her boyfriend Safaree in Amber's room," an insider told the gossip site, adding that "she knew something was going on."

The insider went on to detail, "Later to find out by going into Safaree's phone, [Nicki learned] that Amber was sending Safaree naked pictures of herself via bbm." The discovery led to Nicki breaking off their relationship, but Safaree reportedly convinced the "Your Love" raptress that it was Rose who tempted him.

Responding to the story, Rose took to her Twitter page and wrote, "These blogs do nothing but try to ruin ppls lives I DID NOT send pics to anyones boyfriend pls stop with the lies. Its so ridiculous. smh." She later posted another tweet that read, "Yall been doing this to me for 3 years now it shld be illegal to write fake stories about ppl the media never wants to see anyone happy."

'Thor 2' Gets Release Date, Kenneth Branagh Won't Return

Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios are taking no time off in working on "Thor 2". After releasing the first film this May, the studios announced they will drop its sequel in the U.S. on July 26, 2013, two months after "Iron Man 3" is released on May 3 Stateside.

Chris Hemsworth is set to reprise his role as the God of Thunder, but director Kenneth Branagh is likely not returning for the sequel. According to Deadline, his exit was "mutual and amicable," but he may still be involved in some producing capacity. Marvel Studios would not comment on Branagh's participation in the upcoming project.

The actor/filmmaker himself once claimed he had put all the bests in first "Thor" movie. "You hear about people saving things for film two or three," he said at a Los Angeles premiere of his film. "I don't understand that at all. I put it all in there if I thought it'd help the film be better. You can think of stuff for two or three later, if you get the chance to do them. But you won't if one isn't good enough."

Question of the Day: Gay Marriage Edition

Evolve Already... This is a hashtag used to tell President Obama to evolve on Gay Marriage.

I would like to know your views on this. Should Obama Evolve Already, Evolve When Ready? What's your take?

Me, I think this is a political process. I feel in my heart he's fine with Gay Marriage, but he's playing the field until the numbers for support increase. But that's me, how about you?

Andi Eigenmann breaks her silence

The Agua Bendita actress Andi Eigenmann breaks her silence today around 8Pm about

Andi Eigenmann posted on her Twitter account,

"For your better understanding, I've only had one boyfriend before Jake whom I've only been seeing for the past 2 months. Therefore, Jake cannot be the said ex-boyfriend whom everyone has been talking about,"

Two person has been pinpointed as father of Andi's pregnancy. First was Jake Ejercito, son of former President Joseph Estrada already refuted the speculation about him over Twitter. The second was ALBIE CASIÑO, who was said to be Andi's first boyfriend just before they joined showbiz.

Andi Eigenman in her first tv series Agua Bendita
Some say the two separated last year. But there are also reports saying that was only January 2011 they do break.

There was a conflict between former lover for allegedly accused of Albie was Andi as a "cheater" on May 2011.

No direct statement about the pregnancy was Albie's Andi, but the personal Twitter account of the mother young actor Rina Lee Casiño it was his statement today:

"No one's denying nor confirming. Just saying he is not her 1st bf & I did not hear Ms. Jaclyn Albie did u say?"

Converse of the radio-TV host Ogie Diaz Mrs.. Casiño and said this:

"Walang problema kung anak ko nakabuntis ke Andi. Blessing yan. And we welcome DNA Test."

But if the wide Andi was Twitter's statement, clearly referring to her father of her unborn child is nothing except Albie.

Some LGBT Coward Group Vandalized a D.C. HRC Store

A new group called “The Right Honorable Wicked Stepmothers’ Traveling, Drinking, and Debating Society and Men’s Auxiliary” (This reminds me of a Fiona Apple CD title) vandalized the Human Rights Campaign store in D.C.

Why? Well, they are mad at the HRC and to pay some type of respect to the Stonewall Riots.
Here's there press release:
ROWDY QUEERS TRASH AND GLAMDALIZE HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN GIFT SHOP IN WASHINGTON, DC ON THE  42nd ANNIVERSARY OF THE STONEWALL RIOTS

(In the wee hours of June 29, 2011)
--

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) gift shop in Dupont Circle in Washington, DC is a god awful monstrosity. We were in there yesterday and between wiping our genitals on the clothing and discovering that the snow globes wouldn't properly fit up our bums, we got to thinking:

"This place would look great with a bit of shattered glass and splattered paint."

So we strapped on our riot chaps, poured pink paint into light bulbs, grabbed hammers, and went party party party! all over that tacky testament to the transformation of radical queer liberation into consumer junk.

We've got good reason. This week marks the 42nd anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

On the night of June 28, 1969, New York City's Public Morals Squad did a routine raid of an East Village gay bar called the Stonewall Inn. Everything was going fine until, in the midst of the standard genital check that police forced on draq queens, a lesbian beaned a cop straight in the head with a ripped-up parking meter. And so queer liberation was born.

The modern LGBT movement owes its success to three days of smashing, burning, punching, and kicking--all of it happily indiscriminate--and the confrontational tactics of groups like ACT-UP that followed in the decades since. Yet, somehow we've forgotten our riotous roots.

Gay Pride, for example, wasn't always a suburban county fair with less fanny packs and lined with banks and politicians. The first Pride was the 1970 Christopher Street Liberation Day march, a celebration of the riots the year before (and to this day, Pride festivals the world over are celebrated in June).

But we've been snorting ritalin and drinking whiskey all night and this manifesto tomfoolery is wearing us down so let's bring it home, shall we?

Why, you're asking, did we specifically target the HRC, a massive national gay rights non-profit as opposed to vomiting urine on Rick Santorum or something equally fun?

Put simply, they suck. What do they suck? Cash. Lots of it.

The HRC rakes in something approaching 50 million dollars a year in revenue--their executive director, Joe Salmonellamayonaisemanese pulls in a salary of several hundred grand. What have we gotten out of this bloated carcass? Not a thing worth mentioning and every now and then, they eagerly sell trans people up the river. Seriously, this is an organization that hordes money and does nothing useful. It's a sad, sick dinosaur.

Meanwhile, in Washington, DC violence against the LGBT community is on the rise; DC's only LGBT center is forced to go hat in hand to real estate developers and beg for space, only to face eviction a few years down the road; We lack a homeless shelter for queer youth and services for our community are the victims of budget cuts. Can you think of something better to do with a few million dollars?

(Did you know that 50 million dollars can buy about 300 thousand pounds of glitter?)

Everyone: We know you mean well, but stop giving these idiots your money. Stop putting that equal sticker on your car. Stop going to their lame galas. And for the love of Judy Garland's Ghost and Robert Mapplethorpe's Zombie Bones, stop saying "It Gets Better" and hoping for a miracle from up on high. We don't expect you to riot (although we swear you'll love it once you get going!) but it's time for us to quit with the passivity, move to action, build community and care for each other instead of hoping the Gay Non-Profit Industrial Complex will ever get anything done.

Sincerely,

THE RIGHT HONORABLE WICKED STEPMOTHERS' TRAVELING, DRINKING AND DEBATING SOCIETY AND MEN'S AUXILIARY
This is childish! They are acting like jealous, ugly school girls. I understand their frustration, but to stoop to these levels are ridic. Personally, they are cowards.

If you want to be taken seriously, step in the HRC face; don't hide, stand firm and upfront. Folks ain't got time for this high school mess.

Randomness: Baroness Schraeder

The Sound of Music is such a rich film thematically (some might even call it saturated) that I could probably write missives on it and still not cover it completely. What is it really? Love story? Religious fantasy? Musical farce? Propaganda? Indeterminate. I’m never quite sure how significant the love story aspect of the film is. Andrews and Plummer are nice enough together, but that essential (an aspect that’s a prerequisite in any serious romance) is so odd. On one side religion is pulling Maria from marrying and on the other good breeding prevents the captain from succumbing to her, good breeding in the form of Eleanor Parker’s Baroness Schraeder.

I feel a bit bad for Parker (whose birthday anniversary was last Sunday), she’s a multiple Oscar nominee and I immediately remember not for her work in Caged or Detective Story (although, you can forgive me for forgetting the latter, she hops in and out of it) but for her thankless role in The Sound of Music. And, more than just a general memory of her performance I zero in on a specific scene – one of the most (intentionally, probably) scenes in the movie. I don’t think that there’s anything more uncomfortable in the film – including that ending – than that game of catch that the Baroness plays with the Von Trapp children. It’s both a positive and a negative that the Baroness’ only flaw in the entire film is that she’s not a singing nun. Sure, she might be just a little bit too grandiose but not to the point of being annoying, and those children can be awful.

I feel so badly for her in that scene. We all love Maria, but surely we do not hate the Baroness?

Interesting Quote: Marcus Bachmann

We have to understand: barbarians need to be educated. They need to be disciplined. Just because someone feels it or thinks it doesn’t mean that we are supposed to go down that road. That’s what is called the sinful nature. We have a responsibility as parents and as authority figures not to encourage such thoughts and feelings from moving into the action steps…
And let’s face it: what is our culture, what is our public education system doing today? They are giving full, wide-open doors to children, not only giving encouragement to think it but to encourage action steps. That’s why when we understand what truly is the percentage of homosexuals in this country, it is small. But by these open doors, I can see and we are experiencing, that it is starting to increase.
Michele Bachmann's husband is talking about us (gays) being barbarians... So poof, I'm Thundarr!

“Where did he come from?”

Thor directed by Kenneth Branagh; written by Ashley Edward Miller, Zack Stentz, Don Payne, J. Michael Straczynski and Mark Protosevich

On more than one occasion, in response to a negative review of a mainstream film I’ve read comments to dissenting critics along the line of “turn off your brain”. Sometimes I do wonder what the advantages of such an action would be. I can’t say, though, because my natural penchant for overanalyses prevents it. Less than halfway into Thor I found my mind wandering asking questions that I knew wouldn’t be answered and wondering how a film with five credited screenwriters could fail to address so many rudimentary issues. It’s a prelude to the imminent Avengers’ film, a picture which I’ve all but forgotten about, and in this instalment we’re introduced to Thor – the hero from another realm. After indiscretions at home in his home kingdom of Asgard he’s subjected to a life on earth.
The film is comprises two parts in one. The first is an Asgard a place that is Grecian legend inspired, but sounds and looks like Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale. Odin has two sons, the overwhelmingly blonde Thor and the Loki, who’s given enough penetrating close-ups for us to assume that this shall be our villain for the next two hours. Thor, unwisely, wages war against a land that Odin defeated some time ago and for his imprudence Odin banishes him to a life on earth. Earth is where scientist Jane Foster is conducting a research of obscure foundation and as Thor crashes into her, literally, it leads to the derailment of said research when a group of men in black begin investigating the meteorological madness that has followed Thor’s appearance on earth.
Next to the lavishness that comes with the Asgard portion of the story the New Mexico portions seems especially bland, which is unrotunate because there’s a whole number of more interesting scenarios. Chris Hemsworth is a lot of fun as the male lead and Natalie Portman, who’s relegated to playing more than “Girl” is much better than the role deserves. They work well together, in a kitschy way. I couldn’t help but let my brain run away with me, though. I immediately found myself asking why Thor, who’s legend has been recounted in stories of old (which a character observes) would happen to fall to earth in what is the conspicuous. It’s the least of the issues, though, because I’m not adept at the logics of time travel so I’m hardly the best candidate to discredit the filmmaker’s intent with. The oddest thing about Thor ends up being one of is most unintentionally hilarious – the adeptness with which Thor adapts to earth living. It’s such an odd state of affairs that I begin wondering whether or not Asgard’s inhabitants are cognisant about the other realms. Thor seems unfazed by concepts like cars and civilian clothing of the 21st century, but still has a predilection for cup smashing and 11th century mannerisms. It’s both frustrating and entertaining. In a scene that I cringe and smile at Thor walks into a pet store and audaciously demands a horse.

As such Asgard, by default, seems to come across as the better of the two halves even if it’s far from perfect. The storyline of the warring brothers seems especially rote even if Hemsworth is credible, and Tom Hiddleston the delivers the film’s finest performance as the tortured Loki. The worst thing about this portion of the film is that each time has the potential to develop as a significant character the story moves from him. His final scene (not counting that eye roll inducing epilogue) is excellently done and makes me wish that the film had been a character study of him.

Anthony Hopkins and Stellan Skarsgård are two stalwarts who do much more than you’d expect with their roles. Taking into account all the terrible films Hopkins has been in lately, he’s quite good in this managing to induce his de facto regal Brit role with a whole lot more charm than I expected (shame that Rene Russo couldn’t have been given more to do, though). In the end the film manages to be (marginal) success because the actors, and Branagh at times, throw themselves into the insipid story. As far as the translation of legendary stories to screen goes, it’s no Clash of the Titans. Thor makes for a way more harmless venture. And that, I suppose, is a bit of the problem. It’s completely harmless and ineffectual.

No Charges for the Wrongful Death of DeFarra Gaymon

Way back in August, I blogged about DeFarra Gaymon's wrongful death. He was shot by Officer Edward Esposito in Newark's Branch Brook Park during an undercover investigation of a sex ring. Officer Esposito claimed DeFarra attacked and threaten to kill him. The officer responded by shooting Defarra.

Well, they just had a hearing and the NJ Grand jury did not charge Officer Esposito with anything.

Here's more:
“We made an effort to find out if there was anyone who saw the events in the park,” said Katherine Carter, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office. “No witnesses ever came forward to say they saw all, or a portion, of the encounter.”

Ms. Carter declined to comment on what evidence was presented to the grand jury, which decided on Friday not to indict the officer. The acting Essex County prosecutor, Carolyn A. Murray, told the Gaymon family late Monday, Ms. Carter said.

The family is suing Officer Esposito and the sheriff’s office in State Superior Court in Essex County. Christopher W. Kinum, a lawyer for the Gaymons, said, “We don’t feel like we got a legitimate investigation out of the prosecutor’s office.”

Charles J. Sciarra, a lawyer for the officer, said his client had testified voluntarily before the grand jury. “There was never a doubt that the use of force was an absolute last resort and justified in all aspects,” Mr. Sciarra said.
There are a lot of unanswered questions about this incident. I can't help but to think there's more going on. This story is not over.

Read NOM's Broke Ass Plan to Save Marriage

Oh NOM, they just can't move on. A few days ago, I talked about their 'attack' on New York. Now, here is their 3 step plan:
We're putting together a 4-year campaign strategy that will reverse same-sex marriage in New York. We'll have many more details, and ways for you to get involved, in the days ahead but the overall plan will have three phases:
PHASE 1:
Elect pro-marriage majorities next November that will approve a marriage amendment in both the Assembly and Senate during the 2013 legislative session.

PHASE 2:
Protect pro-marriage candidates in the 2014 elections, so that the amendment can receive final legislative approval in the 2015 legislative session.

PHASE 3:
Successfully pass the ballot measure when it goes before voters in November 2015.
I guess they never watched 'Alias' or took a Strategy Planning course. All super villain knows you never post your plans in public, especially broke ass plans.

The marriage amendment is a bust. Who would really risk their political career over that? Then if the vote went to the people, well that's a bust. Over half of the NY peeps support gay marriage.

So just deal with it, you lost!

Tracy Morgan R' word

In a live performance of Tracy Morgan, audience groaned after he use R word.

Tracy was actually joking during his last weekend performance in New York, saying

"Don't ever mess with women who have retarded kids." The audience groaned, but Tracy didn't stop: "Them young retarded males is strong. They're strong like chimps."
About 3 weeks ago, tracy apologised for his joke gay joke which his co-star Tina Fey didn't like.Morgan joked that he would stab his son to death if he spoke in a "gay voice."

In his apology, Morgan said,

"I want to apologize to my fans and the gay & lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville."

"I'm not a hateful person and don’t condone any kind of violence against others.", added by Morgan.

Sometimes you just gotta slow down from your jokes right? Earlier this year, he was also caught unguarded when he was to chose between Tina Fey Or Sarah Palin? and he answered

“let me tell you something about Sarah Palin, she’s good masturbation material.”

"She decided to keep the baby, na naging proud naman ako sa anak ko.

"Mahal namin 'yan, e. Mahal ng lahat ng pamilya ko si Andi."

Some speculate Albie Casiño since he has been identified as boyfriend of Andi.

It has been also reported that Andi has been girlfriend of former President Joseph Estrada's son Jake Ejercito from former actress Laarni Enriquez.

Jake from his end defended himself via social networking site Twitter saying,

"I'd just like to ask everyone not to jump into conclusions and misinterpret what has been said. I am not Andi's first boyfriend. Let us just respect and pray for her, her baby, and family."

'How I Met Your Mother' Casts Martin Short as Marshall's New Boss

"How I Met Your Mother" has tapped Martin Short for a recurring role, according to New York Magazine's Vulture. The 61-year-old comedian will reportedly portray Marshall's new boss in the upcoming season, replacing Dave Foley.

Foley portrayed Mr. Bloom who interviewed Marshall (Jason Segel) for a job at an environmental law firm in season 6. The "Wrong Guy" actor, however, will not be able to return to season 7 since his sitcom pilot "How to Be a Gentleman" is picked up by CBS.

It is unclear whether Short will take over Foley's role or he will appear as an entirely new character. It will be the first extended comedy role Short has tackled for American TV since his appearance on Comedy Central's series "Primetime Glick".

12 Things Black LGBT folks need to do NOW!

Okay, it's time for more Black LGBT folks to step up and represent. Now, I'm not saying that it's not happening, but we can do more. So, I have some ideas on what we can do to get on point.
  1. Vote in all elections. Yes, Obama is key; but we need to make sure the right congressperson or Governor is in office.
  2. Come Out!
  3. Mentor someone trying to find their way.
  4. Stand up to religious leaders and hold them accountable for their bigotry and lies.
  5. Be visible.
  6. Not only join LGBT organizations, but get on the board.
  7. Get involved in community organizing.
  8. Write a blog explaining your experiences. There are kids looking for examples, stories, and someone to connect with.
  9. Become more savvy about current events, not just on Beyonce.
  10. Be proud of who you are.
  11. Learn LGBT history. We should learn where we been, in order to know where to go.
  12. Become more politically aware.

Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts Grace 'Larry Crowne' L.A. Premiere

Earlier in June, "Larry Crowne" got its world premiere where Tom Hanks came alone. But on Monday night, June 27, a Los Angeles premiere for the dramedy flick saw Hanks hitting the red carpet with his leading lady, Julia Roberts, and his co-star/wife Rita Wilson.

Hanks, who serves as the director and writer in addition to taking the lead role in the flick, attended the event in style. He arrived on a classic scooter, which appears in the movie. For his outfit, he opted for black jacket and matched it with a shirt.

Roberts and Wilson also chose dark color for their clothes. While the "Eat, Pray, Love" beauty attended the special screening in black trousers and suit with green necklace, the actress of "The Art of Getting By" wore a knee-lenght dress.

Other cast members who came to Grauman's Chinese Theatre include Taraji P. Henson, Cedric the Entertainer and George Takei. Henson was smoking hot in her red dress, while Cedric donned gray tux over white shirt. Takei seemed to match his outfit with Cedric's by wearing white shirt which was topped by black suit.

The premiere attracted other Hollywood stars, include Jenna Elfman, Selita Ebanks and Brad Altman. Both Elfman and Ebanks came in their purple gown. Meanwhile, Altman opted for white outfit.

"Larry Crowne" tells a story of the titular character, a middle-aged man who is fired from a big-box store. As he is studying at a college, he falls in love with his teacher Mercedes Tainot. This PG-13-rated movie will hit U.S. theaters on July 1.

Shia LaBeouf Admits to Past Fling With Megan Fox

Shia LaBeouf went as far as revealing a secret past fling to create publicity for "Transformers: Dark of the Moon". The movie's lead star admitted to Details magazine that he once had a hookup with Megan Fox who played his love interest in the first and second movie of the film franchise.

"Look, you're on the set for six months, with someone who's rooting to be attracted to you, and you're rooting to be attracted to them," LaBeouf said. But he was not sure whether Fox was attached to her on and off boyfriend Brian Austin Green at that time. "I don't know, man. I don't know," he said, repeating "I don't know" a few more times. "It was what it was."

The 25-year-old actor added, "I never understood the separation of work and life in that situation. But the time I spent with Megan was our own thing, and I think you can see the chemistry onscreen." Fox is now married to Green and LaBeouf is dating Hollywood stylist Karolyn Pho.

In addition to Fox, LaBeouf opened up about other girls in his life including Hilary Duff whom he had the worst date with, Isabel Lucas whom she experimented with and Carey Mulligan whom he still loves.

Emma Watson: Tom Felton Knows I Had Huge Crush on Him

While her character Hermione Granger has her eyes on Ron Weasley, Emma Watson apparently fell for the enemy during the filming of the first two "Harry Potter" movies. In the August issue of Seventeen magazine, the 21-year-old actress admitted that she had a "huge crush" on Tom Felton, the actor playing Draco Malfoy in the boy wizard series.

"For the first two movies, I had a huge crush on Tom Felton. He was my first crush," confessed the actress who takes on the role of Sam in "The Perks of Being a Wallflower". She went on to say that she didn't hide it from Tom. In fact, she claimed, "He totally knows. We talked about it - we still laugh about it. We are really good friends now, and that's cool."

While she had the hots on Tom, the "My Week with Marilyn" beauty noted she doesn't have celeb crushes. "I've never understood having crushes on people who you don't know in real life," she said. "I only crush on people I meet. I mean, I can appreciate that someone is good-looking, obviously, but I don't intend to fantasize about people I don't know!"

When it comes to dating, Emma claimed she is "a terrible game player". She explained, "I'm so impatient - it's one of my worst traits! My friends are always telling me I have to play hard to get because I'll pretty much say to a guy, 'I like you - let's go hang out.' But my friends are like, 'You can't do that! You have to string this guy along.' It's a nightmare - I definitely haven't figured it out yet."

Back in Court, Halle Berry Accuses Gabriel Aubry of Child Neglect

Halle Berry puts her bitter custody battle with ex-boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry, back on. The "Frankie and Alice" star went to a family court along with her attorney Laura Wasser on Tuesday, June 28, and accused the model of neglecting their three-year-old daughter, Nahla, and violating their custody agreement.

According to TMZ, Halle's lawyer Laura submitted a lengthy court document that focuses on Gabriel's parenting skills. In it, the former Bond girl alleged that Gabriel put Nahla's safety at risk when he neglected her during an overseas visit. She asked the judge to rule that Gabriel violated their agreement. A hearing was set for a later date because Gabriel was not present in court at the time.

Halle and Gabriel got into the bitter battle over the custody of their daughter after Gabriel filed paternity petition back in December 2010. Her rep confirmed weeks later that Halle was ready to go to court over the custody issues, "Halle has serious concerns for her daughter's well-being while in the care of her father for any extended period of time and is prepared to take all necessary steps to protect her."

Halle and Gabriel ended their four-year relationship in May 2010. She went on to date Olivier Martinez whom she met on set of "Dark Tide".

Tom Cruise Defies the Odds in 'Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol' Trailer

The first official trailer of "Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol" has been released for viewing pleasure. Offering a look at the mind-blowing action and stunt sequences, this sneak peek opens with words from Tom Wilkinson's character as he explains to Tom Cruise the high stakes of his new mission.

"An hour ago, a bomb blew up the Kremlin," Wilkinson says. "The president has initiated Ghost Protocol, the entire IMF has been disavowed." As some of the action sequences intercept, he continues to explain, "Now, I've been ordered to take you to Washington where they will hang the Kremlin bombing on you and your team, unless you were to escape after assaulting Brandt and me."

Wilkinson goes on to warn Cruise's Ethan Hunt, "But if any of your team is caught, they'll be branded as terrorists." Snippets of car chases, underwater escapes, machine-gun fire and hand-to-hand combat take over. The trailer ends with Hunt repelling away from the world's tallest building in Dubai, the Burj Khalifa, before making a death-defying leap.

Produced by J.J. Abrams, this fourth installment in the "Mission: Impossible" franchise has Brad Bird serving as director. It is supported by a star-studded cast which also include Ving Rhames, Jeremy Renner, Josh Holloway, Simon Pegg and Paula Patton. December 16 will be the day this action-packed movie opens in theaters across the United States.

Emmy Chatter: Writing and Directing (Drama Series)

Remember two years ago when Mad Men took up four of the five writing nominations at the Emmy? We sure do. Ryan (of Sorta That Guy) and I started Emmy predictions with the guest performers early in the week. We return, this time focusing on the potential writing and directing nominees. These categories are notoriously difficult to predict, but this conversation was a lot of fan to predict.

Ryan: But off the bat, I've never even tackled predicting Writing/Directing nominees before because it's hard.

Andrew: It IS hard to predict. You were saying on twitter that it’s exasperating when shows submit like a dozen episodes, and even though I know they want to give themselves as much chances, I wonder if they really expect double nods.

Ryan: It doesn't help that the Emmys LOVE to give multiple nods. I remember two years ago how ridiculously it was that Mad Men got 4 of the 5 nominations. Love the show, but that is excessive.

How many nods is Mad Men getting this year?
Andrew: Well, imagine what it's like for people like me who DON'T love the show. They get a wee bit out of hand when they love you.

Ryan: Well with that said, shall we dive into Writing for a Drama then?

Andrew: Indeed, and since we're talking about Mad Men, they've won each year for the past three years. 2 nods the first season, 4 the second, 2 the third. How much do we see them getting this year and for what?

Ryan: At most 3 nominations for "The Suitcase" "Walfdorf Stories" and "Tomorrowland." I'm confident that "The Suitcase" will get nominated though.

Andrew: Really, because if we have any legitimate precursor for this category it's the WGA and the nominated MAD MEN episode there was "Chrysanthemum and the Sword"...which they won for...

Ryan: Hm. Maybe I should've paid more attention to the precursors! Well, then it'll be that and "The Suitcase." Or you know, maybe they'll get 4 nominations. Who knows anymore? The thing is there are a lot of new shows that they might want to honour.

Andrew: If there's a third, I'm thinking either "Tomorrowland" or "Beautiful Girls", but really they go crazy over some episodes. My favourite episode of the season was "The Good News", but I'm not a true fan. Sigh.

Ryan: Well as for new shows, Boardwalk Empire is the big one, but there's also Game of Thrones, Shameless, and The Walking Dead.

Andrew: Has Shameless been well received? That one seems to have escaped me.

Ryan: I'm not sure how well-received Shameless is actually, but it's HBO so it almost feel automatic for it to be in the running. And The Killing, which submitted almost every episode ever.
Any chance of The Killing making it in?
Andrew: Ha, I loved that The Killing did that. Probably just to fuck with voters. What really surprises me about the submissions for writing is that Boardwalk Empire really throws me for a loop when they submit almost every episode but NOT the pilot. And pilots of great shows are almost always the go-to for nominations. So I don't know which Boardwalk Empire episode to wager for a nod.

Ryan: Especially since Boardwalk Empire's "Pilot" is the front-runner for Directing. Um, Martin Scorsese thank you very much.

Andrew: (Yup, he's the frontrunner. But, you're pre-empting me. ha. ha) I figure the season finale is the best bet for a nod.

Ryan: I agree, but I don't really watch the show so I don't know. Also I was wrong about Shameless, it's on Showtime, not HBO. Its chances actually dropped because of that.

Andrew: You are mean.

Ryan: I'm going purely by nominating history of the Emmy's. They love HBO.

Andrew: Friday Night Lights and The Good Wife both got writing nods last season. Are they coming back?

Ryan: That's funny since I was going to ask you if there are any non-cable shows that would make it in.

Andrew: Let me get this out of the way now, I don't get Friday Night Lights. I'm trying so hard to get through the final season, and it's well made but I just can't love it. I'm barely mustering up a liking.

Ryan: I actually quite love it, except for the final season. Something's just been off about it, but then again I saw all of Friday Night Lights in 2 weeks a few months ago.

Andrew: Well, they submitted one episode which means all the fans have one horse to bet on. A nod you think?

Ryan: It's a great strategy definitely, but who knows. Everyone else does seem to love it, so its finale "Always" has a shot. As for The Good Wife, I'd say "VIP Treatment."

Andrew: Before we actually predict, I HAVE to ask. As someone who loves The Good Wife what do you think of the submissions? I think that there are some pretty egregious snubs in terms of submissions neither "Getting Off" nor "Ham Sandwich"? Or "Breaking Up" which I thought was a fair episode but excellently written. But, I guess of the lot "VIP Treatment" is the best bet.

Ryan: The episodes you mentioned are damn good, but that's the thing about this show, almost every episode is perfectly written. That's why I actually respect that they took the "less is more" route over the alternative.

Andrew: I do respect them for that. I'm a Dexter fan but it's never gotten a writing nod. Odd isn't it?

Ryan: Yeah and I have no idea how to explain it. They're okay with violence (The Sopranos), so who knows?

Andrew: I don't get that; and some critics weren't a fan of this season so I guess it's not a lock for a nod. I think it's time we show our hands; this is going to be fun. I'll go first.

Ryan: Do we really have to predict now, because I have 12 episodes on my long list and I have no idea how to pick 5-6 of them. I really, really don't. Guess I'll look at yours and decide.

Andrew: Pick blindly. (And you only have 5 choices.)

Ryan: Even better.

Andrew: My picks:
Boardwalk Empire “A Return to Normalcy”
The Good Wife “VIP Treatment”
The Killing “Pilot”
Mad Men “The Chrysanthemum and the Sword”
Mad Men “The Suitcase”

Ryan: My predictions are actually the exact same as yours, except I'm wavering on The Killing's Pilot. BUT my alternatives to that would be episodes from genre shows aka Game of Thrones"Baelor" and The Walking Dead"Days Gone By." So... I'm going to go with…
Boardwalk Empire “A Return to Normalcy”
The Good Wife “VIP Treatment”
Game of Thrones “Baelor”
Mad Men “The Chrysanthemum and the Sword”
Mad Men “The Suitcase”

Andrew: I, too, am wavering on The Killing, people have started to hate it so it could easily get ignored. And I don't see Game of Thrones getting love. I'd be pissed on principal if they do, because they ignored The Tudors back in the name which I find criminal.

Ryan: That's exactly why I'm wavering on The Killing. The buzz just seems to not be on its favour now, while Game of Thrones is riding some good ones.

Andrew: But the Emmy's are weird, they kept nominating Two and a Half Men without a care in the world. So, who knows?

Ryan: I'm predicting a shut out for that show this year. But maybe its wishful thinking. Also, that's jumping ahead a bit. Shall we go to Directing? Any front-runners?

Andrew: Hah. I'm already dreaming about how awesome Martin's speech will be.

Ryan: He's so locked, it's funny. I'm looking forward to seeing it. And I will definitely see that episode before the Emmy's. This category is a bit more forgiving on genre shows, so I'm predicting Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, and maybe even Fringe could get in. The latter is DEFINITELY wishful thinking on my part.

Andrew: I have Game of Thrones there too.

Ryan: Three episodes though. Which one has the better chance?

Andrew: I say the pilot, for obvious reasons. Dexter will probably make it too. It won last year, and Shill directed "Everything is Ilumenated" which seems to have a good chance.

Ryan: I was thinking the pilot, too. And yes, definitely on "Everything Is Illumenated" since as you said, it’s last year's winner.

Andrew: Although, I'd think "Hop a Freighter" is a more obvious choice...

Ryan: And how about the perennial winner Mad Men? I keep saying "The Suitcase" because it was my personal favorite episode of the season, but I'm not sure. Especially since Matt Weiner did "Tomorrowland" and last year nominee Lesli Linka Glatter did "The Chrysanthemum And The Sword." Also I say "winner" though it hasn't won a directing award, has it?

Andrew: They've never won for directing, and probably might not...it could be any number of nods for them, though...but one is what I’m assuming...

Ryan: Any thoughts on the chances of "These Arms of Mine" for Grey's Anatomy? The direction of that episode was front and centre as they had to make it look like a documentary.

Andrew: But they've started hating on the show, they didn't even nominate Sandra last year. So I don't want to be hasty.
Ryan: Yeah, even as an on-off-on again fan of the show, I thought it was insane they didn't get any love for their chilling finale last year.

Andrew: I concur. Emmy's are really random that way.

Ryan: Another nominee last year, Agnieskza Holland could be nominated for her work on The Killing. But who knows?

Andrew: Show your hand, sir. Before you do, though, the DGA nominated Dexter, Mad Men, Lost, Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire.

Ryan: Thank you sir for that. Okay...
Boardwalk Empire “Pilot
Dexter “Everything is Illumenated”
Game of Thrones “Winter is Coming”
Mad Men “The Suitcase”
The Walking Dead “Days Gone By”

Andrew: Seriously? That's my line-up which is really random.

Ryan: So you were thinking The Walking Dead, too, though? That one was the surprising consensus to me.

Andrew: (I erred it was actually The Walking Dead and not Game of Thrones which got DGA love. Game of Thrones hadn’t come out yet.) I'm going crap it up and say "Hop A Freighter" instead of “Everything is Illumenated” instead for DEXTER.
Boardwalk Empire “Pilot
Dexter “Hop A Freighter”
Game of Thrones “Winter is Coming”
Mad Men “The Suitcase”
The Walking Dead “Days Gone By”

And...Darabont (The Walking Dead) is an Oscar nominee. But, really who knows?

Any predictions on the writing and directing for drama categories? Scorsese for the win? Mad Men to rule and conquer?
